Communications Committee

Communications Committee

The Executive Committee (EC) of the African Astronomical Society (AfAS) recognises communication as a key aspect of the society. The AfAS communication will not only raise awareness and visibility of the society, but also about astronomy and related activities on the continent. The EC foresees that the issue of communication will grow in tandem with the growth of the society and its membership. AfAS currently has a functional website and maintains social media platforms. These communication resources require urgent transformation, which will be crucial in branding the society in the future. In the current social and technological landscape, improvements have resulted in new forms of electronic communication which, when efficiently utilised, will enable AfAS to forge deeper ties with and among its members, the broader astronomy community on the continent, and the general public.
