The African Network of Women in Astronomy (AfNWA), a sub-committee of the African Astronomical Society (AfAS), in collaboration with the AfAS Education and Outreach Committee and with a contribution from the l’Académie Royale de Belgique through the “Prix Baron Nicolet” awarded to Dr. Gabriela Gilli (IAA-CSIC, Spain) is opening a call for seed funding to support outreach activities carried out in Africa focused on the use of astronomy and STEM to empower girls living in disadvantaged communities and circumstances (e.g, in areas affected by past or present conflict, remote and rural areas, non-formal settlements, refugee camps, IDP settlements, out-of-school girls, under-age mothers, etc.). The funding available is in fact “seed funding” with 250 – 400 euros per project. If this funding can support the activities you are carrying out in your communities and/or help you to start new initiatives, please fill in this form and contact us.
